Fab N Funky Challenge - Use Lace

Today we have a fabulous new challenge over at Fab n Funky and this week the theme is to use lace.

Now I love my lace but it's yet another one of those things that I buy and then can't bear to part with…..especially this particular lace which is an unusual lemon yellow colour.

None the less, the lace had to come out and the result was the card that you see here…..a bright and colourful combination using NitWit papers, a Rachelle Ann Miller stamp and my Spectrum Noir pencils.
As per usual I had already picked out the papers so I tried to colour the image to match and, as such, this little girlie ended up with slightly reddish hair - quite a departure for me!

In the end this card cam together really easily, which is unusual for me, and I even managed to fit in a sentiment….all boxes ticked I think!

I hope you will come and join us over at Fab n Funky this week. I would love to see if any of you have managed to part with some of your beloved lace too!

As usual there are some other challenges that I would like to enter and here they are:

Tatty Twinkles and her Daisy Chains

Oh how I love the gorgeous Tatty Twinkles……such fun to colour and because she is a little bit Tatty, it means that the colouring can be a bit more free which I just love.

So I decided to stamp a Tatty and colour here in…problem number one…which one….I love them all and can't choose, but I only have time to do one!
So in the end, after changing my mind about 3 or 4 times, I opted for little miss daisy chain here.

Next big decision…..which papers? A happy 15 minutes spent leafing through my Nitwits digi collection came up with this set from the butterfly kisses range…aren't they lovely?

Then on to the colouring fun and, as luck would have it I was able to do some lovely colour matching with my Spectrum Noir pens. I even used the pens to coloured the paper flowers which I had die cut from white pearlescent paper.

Finally, I used this weeks sketch from Saturday Sketchers to complete my card…job done!

Time to enter some  lovely  challenges and here they are:

That's what little boys are made of….

I decided to delve in to the back of my craft cupboard recently and look what I found…..a gorgeous SWALK stamp. These are no longer produced by Crafters Companion, but I think I collected pretty much every stamp along the way, and I wasn't until now that I had the chance to use this lovely little boy stamp which i thought would be prefect for my great nephew's 3rd birthday.

Luckily I had a pre-cut stepper card at my disposal so it was nice and easy to cover it with some lovely bright backing papers and then colour the little boy to match with my Promarkers.

As you know, alcohol markers have long been my favourite colouring medium, and I have to say the Promarkers and Spectrums would be my pens of choice…between the two of them I probably have the complete spectrum of colour and then some!

So I had great fun colouring this little chap, and particularly enjoyed doing his hair this time, which came out just as I wanted it.

So that's my card for today, which I hope you like.  :-)

Of course there are some great challenges to enter this week, so here they are:

Comical fun with Dr Digi at Fab N Funky

Welcome to another Wednesday with Fab n Funky where we have a great new challenge sponsored by Dr Digi.

I have to admit it is a particularly fab wednesday for me personally as I have a week off of work this week……bliss!

I have managed a couple of firsts with my card today:

1) This is the first time I have used a Dr Digi image. I really like this one as it makes a nice change to do something a bit humorous and this reminds me very much of those little cartoon strips that you see in newspapers. If any one has a good comment to put in a speech bubble do let me know!

2) This is the first time of trying out Spectrum Aquas….and I have to say I totally love them! As you know I love alcohol markers but they really are more about precision and careful blending. With these you can be much more slap dash and still get  great colour variation, so it's a really good way to get colouring on those days when you think that sitting with your alcohol pens is just a bit too intense.
As  you can see I have made an easel cad to create a kind of a scene and all of my papers are from a NitWits digi set, appropriately called 'TailWags'. The little dog tag and the faux ribbon are also from the same set.

I have also gone a bit mad with my dies, using a water lily die, which I turned in to sunflowers, and a picket fence (both from La la Land). I also used a Marianne icicles dies to create the grass. All of these were cut from white card and coloured with…..yes, you guessed it….Spectrum Aquas.

The challenge at F&F is all about Bingo, and I chose a vertical line for this card, containing a shaped card, a digi and some dies. Hopefully I have ticked all the boxes.  :-)

Meanwhile, here are some other lovely challenges that  I would like to enter:

Amigurumi Dog - My little flat friend

Hi there. I am diverting from paper craft today to blog one of my other crafting passions, in the shaper of Amigurumi. I taught myself the basics of crochet about a year ago, specifically so that I could make toys, as I was really drawn to them.

After tackling a few chicks and rabbits, this was my first more ambitious project which was destined to be a Christmas present for a two year old member of my family.
The idea is that he is a bit like a pillow, so you can cuddle him, lay on him, have him as a comforter etc.
He took a little while to make but he was really worth it…..in fact he nearly didn't leave my home!!

Anyway, I hope you like him, and thanks so much for stopping by.

Sunday 5 April 2015

The Easter Bunny has arrived!

Happy Easter everyone! Well, after lots of frenzied (or should I say panicked!) Card making, cookie baking, chocolate molding, flower picking and eater egg buying (which kind of explains my lack of blogging lately!) - we have finally reached Easter morning and at last all is calm  :-)

We are finally seeing some better weather here in my part of the UK…since the start of English Summertime last week, it has been more like winter around here -  and I am sitting at my computer, enjoying the view of the bits in my garden and finally enjoying a bit of blog time.

So here is the first of my Easter cards, using Bebunni and some of the digital papers from the Bebunni floral CD. I do love this little chap, and Easter is certainly the time for him to come out of the stamp box so you will see him popping up a few times in various guises.
I have coloured him in using Spectrum Noir pens and used one of my favourite dies to create the lovely lacy border.  Unfortunately I got a little snap happy with the scissors and accidentally cut a notch out of the bottom edge of the card so I had to do a little bit of a cover up with an extra paisley shape which i thought looked a bit like a petal!

Finally I had to add a little bit of sparkle with some dabs of pearl paint which add a little bit of a lift I think.

There are loads of challenges to enter this week, so here goes………..
