Anything Goes at Cute Card Thursday

We have another Anything Goes challenge at Cute Card Thursday this week, so this week I have decided to indulge in my 'thing' for Lawn Fawn stamps.

I don't know what it is about these little stamps, they just seem to make me happy, and they are perfect for colouring when you don't want anything to complicated.

This is a very rare kinetic card for me - it's a shaker with sequins for snow and also the bauble moves and can be removed and used as a decoration next year.

So that;s my little card for today.

Hope you will come and join us over at Cute Card Thursday.

Cute Card Thursday - Anything oes

We have a new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday and this week the theme is Anything Goes.

So I decided to go with another Christmas card using a lovely stamp set from the Leonie Pujol range.

My starting point was Blue Centura pearl card which I embossed with a snowflake folder and then sanded to reveal the white snowflakes.

I then stamped each of the elements on to Sheena card and coloured them with lovely bright colours before attaching them to my main card using a generous dollop of silicone glue!

Spectrum Noirs used:
CG2, CG1, DR3, EB6, EB2, CT3, GT3, BT7, TB7, CT4

So that's my card for today. Hope you will come and join us over at Cute Card Thursday this week. We love to see your creations.

Bye for now.

Festive Colours at Cute Card Thursday

So it's time for another challenge at Cute Card Thursday, and once again we are sponsored by one of our regular Sponsors - All Dressed Up.

Our theme this week is Festive Colours, so I have stuck to mostly red and green on my card, and printers a lovely big image to go on an 8 x 8 card.

I had a lovely time colouring this little  lady in with my Spectrum Noirs, and of course I had to add a touch of sparkle to her fairy wings!

I have teamed her up with some of my Christmas digital papers from NitWits and a lovely frame die from Tonic...oh and I even found a few old Candy Dots to finish off the decoration!

We can't wait to see what lovely things you will make so don't forget to come and join us over at Cute Card Thursday.

See you there!

Anything but Christmas at Fab n Funky.

Hi there,

It's time for the final challenge of the year over at Fab n Funky and this week our theme is Anything but Christmas, sponsored by Bugaboo.

So, for my card I have kept things bright and simple using this gorgeous ladybird image.

These were actually designed as get well cards and one of them was sent to someone with very poor eyesight, so I thought that the bold image and bright colours would do just the trick.

I have coloured both images with my Spectrum Noirs and added  some lovely Lily of the Valley sentiments below.

So that's my offering for today - very simple but such fun to colour!

I hope you will come and join us over at Fab n Funky. Look forward to seeing you there.

It's a dog's life.......

Hi there. I am back with a card for another challenge at Colour Crazy where, as always the them is Anything Goes, as long as you do some colouring.

This week we are sponsored by Dr Digi  and I have used this comical image called Sofa So Good because it reminds me very much of my parent's dogs who do actually have their very own sofa!
I have coloured in the whole image using my Spectrum Noirs pens and I found that my go to colours of GB8, 9 and 10 were perfect colours for the dog, whilst the shabby sofa look was aceived using DG2, YG1 and YG2.

I used some antique linen  to take away the whiteness of the card and used my trusty dotty stamp to add a bit of interest.

I hope you like my card for today, where I have stepped away from Christmas for just a bit!

Hope you can come and join us at Colour Crazy.

Stepping it up for Christmas!

Well here we are on the last day of November and I am now in to full Christmas card making mode....and as usual I am thinking will I get everything done that I wanted? The answer is of course 'no', but I'll keep on trying anyway!

I have quite a few cards stored up on my blog so I thought it was about time I started to post them, and here is the first, featuring a gorgeous stamp from Wild Rose Studio.

I used my Aqua pens to colour in this image and I have to admit it took a little while but it was really worth it as this is such a cheery little picture once it is all done.

I decided to make a  stepper card for a change and, as luck would have it, I have a great Tattered Lace die to create the base card and all the infills, so all I had to do was decide on my papers, which came from my trusty NitWits digital collection.

How do you like the big sentiment? This is another die form the Sara Davies range. i am honestly not sure if you can still get it, but I am sure there will be something similar in her 2017 collections.

My holly was another die out of my stash and one that i have had for quite a fw years...Marianne Designs I think, and it is topped of with some lovely red Nuvo dots.

So that's my card for today. Hope you like it, and come back and visit again soon!!

Deck the Halls.....

Well it is getting to that time of year, but I have to admit that I was a little surprised to see Xmas decorations up in someone's window already this weekend!

I think it will be a few weeks before I venture in to the loft and drag out my stuff, but in the meantime I have been getting in to the spirit with lots of lovely Christmas images, and this is one of them.
This lovely lady is from All Dressed Up and I printed her out quite large so that I could use her for this A5 sized card.

I coloured her with my Spectrum Noirs and used lashings of glitter for her lovely fairy wings. For once you can actually see the sparkle in the photo!

Of course I had to delve in to my trusty NitWits digital stash for my backing paper and I have paired it with a beautiful Tonic die which created a perfect frame.

I love the font on the sentiment...I only wish i could remember which one of my many stamp sets it came from...how frustrating!!!

I hope you like my card for today....it is the closest thing that you will see to a Christmas tree in my house for a little while yet!

Bye for now.

It's penguin-ing to look a lot like Christmas!

Sad to say , I have been neglecting my blog a little bit lately, but I have been busy with my crafting and now I can start to show you some of my makes without getting told off for mentioning that C word!!

I am totally hooked on Lawn Fawn (amongst others!) at the moment - there is something about the cute but simple images that gives me a little buzz of happiness....especially the winter ones.

So here I am with a sweet little card that I created using some of the penguins and a bunch of dies.

I coloured my penguins in with my spectrum noirs and cut them out with the matching dies, which I love, love love!

I then used a crafters companion dies from the Sara release  last year to create the houses in the background and used another wavy die to create the second layer which I highlighted with tumbled glass distress ink to give it some depth.

For the sky, i used my distress inks and glycerine to get a love blend, and then I sprinkled with water and blotted to get the snowflakes.

Finally, I added the musical note which are part of the stamp set.

Oh - and I nearly forgot to mention the sentiment, which is right up my street, as I do love a bit of word play. It's really simple in style so it doesn't overwhelm the card but it's the perfect finishing touch to bring everything together.

Hope you like my cheery card for today, and thanks very much for visiting.

Whipper Snappers Doggy Pile

Hi there. I am back today with a really old stamp of mine that I love! It dates back to the times when you could only get wood mounted stamps and it comes from Whipper Snappers. Sadly, as this is an American company these stamps are quite card to get hold of, and I am not sure if you can even get them anymore so this really is a little treasure for me.
When I first got this stamp, alcohol markers weren't on the scene so I used Tombows to colour my images, but of course these days we have lots of amazing mediums to use and I managed to get a much more vibrant effect using my Spectrum Noirs.

I don't know if you can tell from the close up but these lovely little chaps are decoupaged. It was a little bit time consuming but so worth it in the end, especially as this was a special card for my dad!

My backing papers are the perfect match and are digital papers from NitWits, in what i would call muted autumnal colours.

Finally, I decided that the background behind the dogs was too white so I dulled it down with a touch of distress ink, and random dots using a Stamps by Judith stubby.

Hope you like my card for today.

Thanks for stoping by!

Colour Crazy sponsored by All Dressed Up

It's time for another challenge over at Colour Crazy, and this week we are sponsored by All Dressed Up.

I have used this little cutie called Christmas Present, but I felt like this didn't have to be restricted to Christmas. so I used her to make a birthday card instead, using some lovely vintage tones.

I found the backing paper in a freebie pack from an old magazine, and I decided to use that as the basis for my colouring. Of course, there are fairy wings, so there HAD to be glitter , but for everything else I have kept it all fairly muted.

My lots of love die is an old favourite from Tattered Lace and my swirly sentiment is from Lili of the Valley, and i am glad to say I am no longer afraid to use this in a finished card due to the fabulous Misti tool!

So that's my card for today...stepping away from Christmas for just a little while.

Hope you like it and that you will come and join us on Colour Crazy.

Thanks for stopping by.

A little birdie told me that Christmas is coming......

I am back for another DT post today, and this week and this time it is for Cute Card Thursday, where the theme is Anything Goes.

We are sponsored by Whimsy Stamps who have some of the cutest Christmas images so I chose this one which is called Nice Friends 2. And see the little guy with the Christmas hat on? He is a tiny little stamp from Gerda Steiner....I just thought he needed to be there!

I created the background with my distress ink pads - Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans, and coloured the image with my Spectrum Noirs, before adding a finishing spritz of glitter........well you have to don't you??!!

Finally i have mounted the image on to some Red Mirri Card which comes in the Crafters Companion Luxury red cardstock pack. You will see this on a lot of my cards at the moment, as I think it gives the finished card a lovely little lift, that you can only get away with at Christmas.

So that's my card for today. I hope you will come and share your makes at Cute Card Thursday.

Thanks for visiting.

It's all about fashion

Hi there. We have new challenge over at Fab n Funky this week, and our theme is Fashion, sponsored by Lemon Shortbread.

I have decided to use this lovely little lady, called Heart Sunglasses, and coloured her in with my Spectrum Noirs.

I have gone for a very clean and simple card this time, using some old scraps of patterned paper that I found in my stash and a little bit of ribbon.

Thanks for visiting today, and don't forget to come and join us over at Fab n Funky.

Something fishy is going on........

Did I mention a little while that i had a little bit of a thing about mermaids at the moment? I don't know why, but I am really drawn to them. Luckily for me, Polkadoodles brought out a whole range of digital mermaid images earlier this year, and i have to say I just love them.

I think there are about twelve all in all......I have them all, but didn't colour any for a while as I just couldn't decide which one to do first!

Anyway, I settled on this little cutie, which i coloured in with my copics, but the best part about this one is that the background is pre-coloured. I admit I was a little bit dubious about this, as I  thought it would be obvious where the colouring ended and the printing began, but actually I don't think you can really tell.

That makes me really happy as you end up with a really nice topper in half the time, and because you have coloured in the main image, it doesn't feel like you have 'cheated',

So this little lady ended up on a 7 x 7 card and I made the base paper using spectrum aquablends and glycerin, followed by a splattering of gold and pearl white paint. I was really happy with the final result. :-)

So that's my card for today. Hope you like it, and thanks for visiting!

It's all about paper piecing

Hi there, I have a couple of cards today, all based around our Fab N Funky challenge this week, which is paper piecing.

I have chosen some very simple outline images from Digi Stamp Boutique for my card, and paper pieced the petals using some NitWits digital papers.
The nice thing about this is  that I have used the same paper on the petals as some of the background, so this is a really nice and simple way to pull a card together.

I look forward to seeing you over at Fab n Funky.

A New Challenge at Colour Crazy

It's time for a new challenge at Colour Crazy and this week we are sponsored by Oddball Art, who have some lovely quirky images which are perfect for the Halloween season.
This little lady looks very zombiefied doesn't she? I didn't want to use girly colours on this occasion so I went for blues and greens instead, to tone in with the backing papers that I chose. I wanted everything to be a bit offset to match with her stumbling along in a zombie fashion!

I've also added some faux stitching to bring the background together with the character.

This is a really unusual image for me, but I really enjoyed colouring her. I hope that you will come and join as at Colour Crazy and share your colourful creations too.

Bye for now.

Cute Card Thursday - Anything Goes with Whimsy Stamps

Another day, another challenge.........and today I am back for Cute Card Thursday who are sponsored by Whimsy Stamps with a theme of Anything Goes.

I am starting to feel a little bit Christmasy now, and I do love some fairy lights, so I chose this gorgeous little penguin for my card and matched him up with some very appropriate Nitwits digital papers. You probably can't see the wording on the green paper too well, but it actually has 'Deck the Halls' written al over it.
For me it was really nice to do a penguin without all the usual icy blues. We have a much warmer colour palette here, which I based around the backing papers.

My image is coloured with Spectrum Noirs and I have added some pale yellow, as opposed to the usual grey outlining, as I wanted to give impression of a glow coming from the little fairy lights.

I have to say there are lots of things I love about this image.......his little feet,,,,,,his podgy little belly.....and his ever so cute face. I will definitely be using this little guy again!

Thanks very much for visiting me today, nd I do hope that you will pay a visit to Cute Card Thursday too.

Bye for now.

Fab N Funky - Pretty In Pink with All Dressed Up

It's time for another challenge over at Fab n Funky, and this week we are lucky to be sponsored by a company that I really love - All Dressed Up.

This lovely little image is one that I return to time and time again as she is so sweet, and imagine how tiny she must be to be able to sit under those flowers!
The theme this week is pretty in pink, but I didn't want to go for a monochrome effect so I have paired up my pinks with some pastel blues, and of course there is the obligatory glitter on the fairy wings!

I have kept my card clean and simple, but paired it up with a lovely piece of ribbon which I got from Polkadoodles and some gorgeous Nitwits papers.

I hope you like my card for today and I look forward to seeing you over at Fab n Funky.

Trick or Treat at Cute Card Thursday

Hi there! Withe the creepy season fast approaching it's time to get going with some Halloween Cards, so this week at Cute Card Thursday we have a theme of Trick or Treat, sponsored by Bugaboo.

They have absolutely tonnes of images in store, but I had to go with this one as the bat  with the googly eyes really made me laugh.

I have coloured this pair in with my  Spectrum Noirs, and I have added the faintest hint of lilac on the mummy so that he tones in with the purple background.

I hope you like this fun iamge and I look forward to seeing you over at Cute Card Thursday this week.

What's up chick?

Hi there.

I'm back with a very quick post today. It's a very simple CAS card using a very cute digi stamp with I coloured with my Spectrum Noirs.

I left my card sentiment free, but I think it could be used for any number of reasons, just by adding a sentiment: 'Sorry I forgot', 'Feel Better Soon', 'Just a Little Note to Say......'

With that cute little face I think this lovely chick is perfect for all sorts of occasions!

Thanks so much for visiting today.

Trees and Sparkle

Hi there. I am back today with a Christmas card, as it seems that it is the time of year when crafters' minds are turning in that direction!

This is a card that I made for last Christmas, using all sorts of lovely things from Stamps by Chloe.

I have created the background sheet using an pine tree sprig stamp and lots of WOW embossing powder, and I used a lovely branch on acetate to create the golden embellishments.
Now on to the trees, which are another set of Chloe's stamps. As you can see I have paper pieced them, and I have raised the central tree for some perspective. Finally chunky glitter and faux snow were the perfect finish for this card.

Hope you like my card for today and thanks for visiting!

Include Flowers.....and not just on the backing paper!

We have a new challenge over at Fab n Funky, and the theme is to use flowers....but we have a twist in the we don't want you to just use a flowery backing paper!

So for my card I have gone very CAS and I have used a lovely Sheena Douglas Orchid stamp, which I embossed in white embossing powder and then coloured using the water flooding technique and Spectrum Aquas.
This is a really simple technique which is just perfect for natural objects, such as flowers, and the results are so satisfying!

I continued my flower theme by embossing my pearlescent backing card with flowers too, so add to the flower theme without over powering the delicate orchid.

Not my usual style but I really hope you like it!

PS - Don't forget to pop over to Fab n Funky and join in the fun.

Colour Crazy Challenge Sponsored by Little Miss Muffet

Hi there. I am back with another challenge post today, this time for Colour Crazy, where the theme is always anything goes, as long as you show off your colouring!

This week, we are sponsored by Little Miss Muffet, and I have chosen this gorgeous Dexter in Love image to colour up and get an early start on my Christmas cards.
I have coloured this cute little pair with my Spectrum Noir pens and created my own background using Sheena Douglas's glycerine technique, which I think is totally fabulous!

A very CAS card, but hopefully bright and cheery too!

Thanks for visiting today, and keep on colouring!

Banners and Flags as Cute Card Thursday

Hi everyone. I have been absent for a while but I am back again today with a new challenge for Cute Card Thrusday, sponsored by All Dressed Up. Look at this little cutie - I think she is just adorable, and I had great fun colouring her in soft colours with my Copic markers.

Now on to the theme, which is Banners and Flags. I thought this would be the perfect opprotunity to get out on of my Tattered Lace Greetings Banners which, I thought went perfectly with this image, without over powering it.
I have made my card up in a 7 x 7 size, using some gorgeous Tilly Daydream papers from Docrafts. I really love this set of papers, and I will be very sad when they are gone!

So that's my card for today. Hoping that you like it and I look forward to seeing you over at the Cute Card Thursday challenge.

A sparkly sunset

Hi there. Happy Sunday to all. I hope you are having a lovely day, doing whatever you like to do on a Sunday!

I decided to spend a few minutes doing a blog post as, apart from my scheduled DT posts, I haven't actually posted anything for ages.

Here is a card that I made a while back, having watched a Sheena Douglas show where she showed how to make a background with sparkle pens. So I decided to experiment a bit myself and made about 4 backgrounds using this technique.

Here is the result of one of them which I finished iff using a variety of Lavinia and Inkylicious stamps.

This version was on water colour card, which made the spreading of the sparkle pen a bit easier, but the down side was that the fairy stamp did not come out quite as solid as I would have liked. Also,  the water colour paper curled and no amount of flattening under books etc would get it perfectly flat again, so it took a bit of effort to get it stuck down on the card!

None the less, it was a very fun and creative few hours for me, and I will definitely be doing this again.

Thanks for visiting today!

Too Cute at Cute Card Thursday

Hi there, I'm back again with this week's challenge from Cute Card Thursday which happens to be......Too Cute!

Now there are many, many images I could have chosen from to fit this theme, but in the end I opted for this lovely little pair from Lili of the Valley - just because I could!

I have coloured them in with distress markers, and then challenged myself to use some older papers from my stash - I thought these ones worked out quite nicely with their little descriptive words.

Hope you like this little dose of cuteness and that you will join us over on Cute Card Thursday and share your own idea of cute!

Colour Crazy Challenge - sponsored by Crafty Ribbons

Hi there - it's time for an new challenge at Colour Crazy where the theme, as always is Anything Goes.

We are sponsored by Crafty Ribbons this week, so I have added a delicate accent to my card using some 5mm silk ribbon with a lovely picot edging ( at least I think that's what you call it!)

For my image I have gone with a beautiful LOTV design which I have coloured with Distress Markers and Zig Real Colour Pens.
Finally I teamed the image up with some beautiful papers from Wild Rose Studio - the Blackberry Lane 6x6 paper pad, and I made some die cut dailies to match the theme.

This was one of those cards where I was just able to relax and enjoy the process. Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Embossing at Cute Card Thursday

It's time for a new challenge at Cute Card Thursday and this week we are sponsored by onw of our regular sponsors - All Dressed Up.

The theme this week is embossing so I chose to use an embossing folder and I found this beautiful one with dandelion seeds which i think is a perfect match to the lovely image.

I have coloured my image with Spectrum Noirs and I used Spectrum Aquas and glycerine to colour my embossed background.

Finally I added a little bit of magic in the form of glitter on the seed heads.  :-)

Thanks for visiting today, and don't forget to some and join in the fun at Cute Card Thursday!

Cute Card Thursday sponsored by Bugaboo

Hi there,

We have a new challenge over at Cute Card Thursday, and this week we are sponsored by Bugaboo stamps. Our theme is anything goes, so this week I decided to do a little Christmas preparation, using this lovely Christmas tree image for Bugaboo.

I love how all the tress are in a row, and they are really fun to colour as each one is just a little different. I used my Spectrum Noirs to colour these in, and you can see the list below.

Look forward to seeing you over at Cute Card Thursday.

Delighted to be a Guest DT at Christmas with the Cuties this month!

Hi there. I was absolutely delighted to be asked to join the Christmas with the Cuties team as a guest DT this month. As you can imagine Cuteness and Christmas tick all my boxes so I felt like a kid in a sweet shop!!
I was given this lovely image from Papernest Dolls  to play with and I had a lovely time colouring it in with my Spectrum Noirs, plus a little help from my Faber Castell pencils for the hair.

Unusually for me I went with fairly traditional colours, and the old die cutting machine got a good work out too. The card based and mats were all made from the a Spellbinders giant nesting die and the holly comes from  the new White Christmas range at Tattered Lace.

So, my final world is to say thank you very much to Lisa and the rest of the Cuties DT for making me so welcome this month, and letting me join in the fun on both the Cutie Pie and the Christmas with Cuties challenges this month!

Bye for now.

Whilst the theme is always 'Anything Goes' for our participants, here on the DT we are adopting a Surfer theme this week, and between us we have been playing with boy and girl surfer images.

I picked the little girl, as I thought that would be a little out of the ordinary!

This image comes with the lovely background that you see, so I set to work colouring everything in, in flat colour, using my Spectrum Noir pens. But then I thought it looked a little too flat, so I went over the top with my Faber Castell pencils to add some depth, and also to make the surfboard look like it had some wood grain showing through (even though it is red!).

I then created a frame for my card using teal card, and this frame actually sits over the top of the design paper for a change so it is a little different.

I also decoupaged the little girl and her board, to make her a bit more prominent. If you look closely you might be able to see the shadows.  :-)

Thanks very much for visiting today, and I look forward to seeing you over at Colour Crazy this week.

Bye for now.

Patterned papers at Fab n Funky

Hi there. It's my turn to host the challenge over at Fab n Funky this week, and I have chosen a nice easy theme - use a patterned paper.

We are sponsored by Lia Stamps this week, who kindly provided us with this gorgeous little girl to play with. I think she is just adorable.
I coloured my little girl in with my Spectrum Noir pens and then added Polychromos pencil over the top to add some shading. This is a technique that I have only recently started to use, and I really like it. For examples the deep shadows in the folds of the skirt are made with a grey pencil and the highlights in her hair are with white pencil.

I found some lovely papers in my stash - they are Tilly Daydream by Do Crafts, and, as you can see they have some beautiful patchwork papers and a coordinating apple paper - so I made sure to colour my little girl to match. In the end I am feeling like it is a little bit of a harvest festival type theme.

So that's my card for today. Hope you like it and that you will come and share some of your much loved patterned papers over at Fab n Funky this week.

Bye for now.

Guest DT at The Cutie Pies

I am delighted that I was recently asked, by the lovely Lisa, to be a guest DT at The Cutie Pies challenge!

They are midway through their challenge this week, which has a theme of 'Here Come the Girls' and is sponsored by Crafty Sentiments who do indeed have the cutest little images.

So here is what I created for the challenge:

I wanted my little cutie to be relaxing in her beautiful bathroom and feeling pampered, so I have created this 3d card to give that effect. I'm not sure what you call this style of card, but I had seen some examples made this way recently, and thought I would give it a go.
For my little girl, I printed her twice and coloured her with Spectrum Noirs, before decoupaging the shower cap , the bath and some of the bubbles to add some lift. The towels and loofah were also part of the image, and make some nice accessories.

So - I hope you like my card today and that you will join in with the fun over at The Cutie Pies.

Thanks very much to Lisa and the team for letting me join in with the fun!
